Professional Bio:
I’ve celebrated my 25th year as a hearing aid audiologist – working in both branches and domiciliary hearing – and I still love my job! I enjoy engaging with my patients on a day to day basis. Over the years, I’ve met some wonderful people and I’ve learnt a lot from my patients about life in general and the laughs and rich conversation have been endless! I believe hearing and communication is key at any stage in life, so helping our patients to restore their hearing has been a very valuable part of my work. Witnessing their positive reaction has been priceless!

Personal Bio:
Originally from London, I moved to the Midlands with my parents after I left school. I live with my husband and my 2 sons, and I am a carer for my lovely mum who has been a real rock in my life. I love spending time with my family and enjoying the moment! From board games and woodland walks to bike rides and good food….“these are a few of my favourite things!”

Heidi Tanton

BSc (Hons), HAA

Local professional

Professional Bio:
I qualified with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Audiology from Leeds University, and since then I’ve worked for the NHS, in private healthcare and independently. I’ve travelled around Yorkshire offering patient-centred care closer to people’s homes for 7 years as I feel it is important to make the process of accessing hearing care easier for everyone. I love educating people about their hearing and the solutions available so they can have an informed choice. I’ve witnessed emotional moments when people realise what they’ve been missing once their new hearing aids are switched on. It’s a privilege to help people communicate better with their nearest and dearest.

Personal Bio:
I’ve lived all over the UK, from London to the Highlands of Scotland and I’ve enjoyed exploring all these areas. However, my heart is in Yorkshire after meeting my wife and setting up a home with our two children and three cats. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening and tabletop gaming, as well as hiking.

Professional Bio:

I qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Audiology 12 years ago from Manchester University, and since then I’ve worked for both the NHS and in private hearing healthcare.

I love testing someone’s hearing and then finding an incredible solution for them and seeing the results of them hearing so much better. I love the smile they have when they realise how much better they can hear. It provides people with a real gift. Hearing is such a vital sense and when it deteriorates, we can provide them with a huge life changing difference, so that they can hear friends, family and any other aspects of life that they enjoy.

Personal Bio:

I’m born and bred in Manchester and live there with my wife and three children (two boys and a girl) and a pet rabbit. In my spare time, I enjoy making air-fix models, spending time with my children and I love making BBQs. Top of my bucket list is to take my family on a Mediterranean cruise.

Nathan Cannon

FdSc, HAA

Local professional

Professional Bio:

I qualified from De Montford University in Leicester and have dispensed both private and NHS hearing aids over several years. I have a broad knowledge of the technologies and devices available, so I can provide a fair and honest opinion of the options available to each of my patients.

I feel truly honoured to be able to provide the highest levels of service afforded to me through Hearfocus. Every day is a new challenge as each patient has unique requirements, and I cherish the opportunity to improve the quality of life for each patient, and the people they share their lives with.

Personal Bio:

I live in Gloucestershire with my two wonderful young children and my fiancé, who would already now be my wife if it wasn’t for Covid causing our wedding to be postponed. Outside of family life, I love playing various sports and drawing – which was an occupation of mine prior to hearing care. Top of my bucket list would be to see the sunset from the summit of Machu Picchu!

I qualified in Audiology 7 years ago and have worked as a hearing aid dispenser in Italy and the UK. I love to help people hear again and to change their lives. I’m proud to be a healthcare provider, working for the experts in home hearing care in the UK, as your health is the most important thing you have!

Personal Bio:

I’m originally from Italy and currently live in Chiswick, London with my best friend, though I’d love to buy my own home soon. I love to travel when I can and I also love photography. In my spare time I like to play around with electronic devices.

Professional Bio:

I qualified four years ago and since then have been helping with hearing healthcare in a variety of domiciliary roles – visiting patients in the community and their homes. I’ve helped at many roadshows promoting hearing health and I have a keen interest in hearing defence. I come from a family of sound engineers and have worked with many engineers in providing aural impressions for in-ear monitors and hearing protection, including Jools Hollands’ Big Band!

I enjoy everything about my job! Mostly seeing a patient go from struggling with their hearing, to hearing well with little effort; seeing their confidence build and building relationships with my patients. Thousands of people go undiagnosed with hearing loss every year, my role is one of information; I can diagnose, but also inform. I see it all too often, a situation where a patient becomes withdrawn from society, purely because they have lost the ability to communicate effectively, through hearing loss. And that’s where I help.

Personal Bio:

I was born in Kent but grew up in Snowdonia, and I now live on the Welsh/Cheshire border. I live with my partner, my step children, our dogs, cats and the Axolotl! I am an animal lover and we walk the dogs in Snowdonia as often as we can. My partner is a qualified mountain leader so we go mountain hiking often too. I love to swim, and visit the gym and I’ve always been heavily involved in live music, going to productions and helping family members wherever possible. At the very top of my bucket list is to see parts of the world by hot air balloon.

I’m a HCPC registered Hearing Aid Dispenser with 13 years’ experience in both private and NHS hearing aids. My varied roles within the private sector and for NHS departments mean I have a great deal of experience in providing the best quality in patient care.

Personal Bio:

Most of my spare time is spent enjoying time with my wife, two young daughters and walking my dog. I also like to take on as many DIY projects on my home as my skills allow, and I try to play badminton as often as my busy schedule allows me.

Professional Bio:

I qualified over four years ago from the University of Catania in Sicily, and then I went on to qualify in the UK from the HCPC in 2017. I enjoy being in a different place every day, getting to know new people and work with them to achieve better hearing. I know how impairing, embarrassing and frustrating having a hearing loss can be, so I love the feeling we get when we manage to improve our patients’ lifestyle.

Personal Bio:

I’m from Sicily in Italy but I now live in Cambridge with my wife. In my spare time, I love motorbikes, so when the weather is nice, or at least dry, I take every opportunity to go for a ride with my friends. My other hobbies include going to the gym and bricolage. Apart from wanting to have my own family, at the top of my bucket list is to go skydiving and learn to play the drums.

Professional Bio:

I’m in the final stages of qualifying as a hearing aid dispenser with Hearfocus. What I really like about my job is having the opportunity to help people in need, as I have always dreamt of doing during my life. I find it’s very important as people count on us to have a chance to hear again and to be part of their families again.

Personal Bio:

I’m originally from Italy but now live in Cambridge with my husband, who is also an hearing aid audiologist with Hearfocus. I love reading, shopping (especially for handbags) and dancing. I spend a lot of time learning how to cook. Being Sicilian, it’s a duty to learn how to cook great food like my grandmother did! At the very top of my bucket list is my big dream to become a mother.

Rahila Omar

BSc, HAA, MSHAA

Local professional

Professional Bio:

I qualified 4 years ago with a BSc (Hons) in Audiology from De Montfort University. Since graduating, I’ve worked in the private sector because I wanted to have more time with my patients to get to understand them and their needs and what type of hearing aid they would prefer.

I want my patients to feel like they have improved their quality of life, to be able to be fully present around family and friends, whilst also being able to have discrete, comfortable and up to date hearing aids. Being able to keep in touch with patients and continue their hearing aid journey yearly is something that really pleases me as this ensures patients are happy. Some people don’t understand how much living with a hearing loss can impact their day to day lives, so being able to show them the difference it could make, is quite a rewarding and amazing feeling in itself.

Personal Bio:

I live in Leicester with my husband, two cats and three new kittens. I’ve always been an avid player of badminton and in 2012 I represented East Midlands for a national tournament. I now play badminton for Central Leicester Badminton Club where I enjoy competing in club leagues. I enjoy doing many activities, especially if they’re adventurous and give you an adrenaline rush, like abseiling! I also like the simpler things in life, like walks in nature, playing pool, baking, cooking and spending time with my family, friends and pets. I’ve been lucky enough to recently cross off seeing the Northern Lights from my bucket list. So top of the list now is to drive a campervan across New Zealand.

I qualified in 2012 with a BSc (Hons) in Audiology from Aston University and since then I’ve worked within the NHS and private sector, both in clinic and domiciliary (home based) care roles. I love building good relationships with my patients and helping them on their journey to better hearing. I feel my role is important as I help people hear again, a sense which is so often neglected and under-valued.

Personal Bio:

I live in Birmingham and in my spare time I like to be very active. I love to exercise whether that’s at the gym or playing sports. At the very top of my bucket list is to see more of the world!

Aasma Aslam

I have been a qualified Audiologist for 10 years, clinic based, before working for a global hearing company. My job has enabled me to meet patients who need help with their hearing and to work closely with colleagues to make sure our patients always receive and professional and personable service.
I am passionate about ensuring my patients are listened to and provided with the very best clinical advice and solutions.

Personal Bio:

I’m born and bred in Birmingham, where I still live. Aside from being an Audiologist, I’m a wife and most importantly a Mum to a 3 year old girl who takes up most of my time when I’m home! When time allows, I enjoy going for walks and hiking, but generally after a long day, I like to wind down and relax by cooking a variety of food.

Professional Bio:

I have many years of experience as a hearing Audiologist, having qualified in 2004. I enjoy working with people and the challenge of improving their hearing through the use of hearing aids and assistive devices. I see everyone having individual needs in terms of their acceptance of amplification, using and handling devices and their rehabilitation to hearing aids. I then work hard to achieve the best outcome possible for them.

Personal Bio:

I live in Nantwich with my wife and I have two grown up children. I tend to do a lot of DIY which takes up most of my spare time. I also like to spend time with family and friends and I enjoy travel, cinema, theatre, cooking and walking. I hope to have more time soon to take up drawing and painting.

Joanne Dalton

Professional Bio:

I began my audiology career 15 years ago, after studying for my degree at the University of Leeds.

I then provided hearing care across Yorkshire for 8 years before moving to New Zealand for an adventure! There I was able to extend my clinical knowledge and experience whilst working in an Ear, Nose & Throat Surgeon’s clinic.

I truly love the variety of my work and the people I meet. I relish finding the unique solution for each individual person and their needs. It is an honour to assist in restoring communication between loved ones and friends, something I will never tire of.

Personal Bio:

I live in my hometown in East Yorkshire with my husband, our little kiwi born daughter and our well-travelled cocker spaniel. I have a budding interest in pottery and yoga and am a long-time music and nature lover. After our time away from home, I’m now focused on spreading my roots back into Yorkshire amongst family and friends.
